Science enthusiasts and radio junkies everywhere have quickly turned NPR's Radio Lab into a cult phenomenon. Following an introduction by WAMU 88.5, hosts Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich will demonstrate and discuss their approach to melding complex scientific ideas into a show that is high tech, surreal and ultimately philosophical - a unique style that's been dubbed "magical realism for radio." The event is cohosted with WAMU 88.5

Jad Abumrad is co-host and producer of Radio Lab. During his career, he has reported and produced documentaries for a variety of local and national public radio programs, including On the Media, PRI's Studio 360 with Kurt Andersen, Morning Edition, All Things Considered, and WNYC's 24 Hours at the Edge of Ground Zero. He produced and hosted the Ring & I, which earned ten awards, including the 2005 National Headliner Grand Award in Radio.

Robert Krulwich is co-host of Radio Lab and a Science Correspondent for National Public Radio. A Special Correspondent for ABC News, Krulwich appears regularly on Nightline and other news programs, including ABC News Tonight, and Good Morning America. His journalistic work in communicating complex scientific subjects has been recognized by the National Academy of Sciences, American Academy for the Advancement of Science, and National Cancer Institute. He is the winner of an Emmy Award, Polk Award, and DuPont Award.

Radio Lab, which is produced by WNYC and airs on National Public Radio, is syndicated nationally and is heard on over 150 stations. The show uses an interactive format comprised of interviews and rich sound to communicate abstract and prosaic scientific concepts, including time, mortality, memory, and stress. Radio Lab was recognized by the National Academies as a winner of the 2007 Communication Award for excellence in science communication.

Co-hosting the event: American Universitys radio station since 1961, WAMU 88.5 is the leading public radio station for NPR news and information in the greater Washington, D.C., area, with more than 650,000 listeners in the region. Each new season of Radio Lab airs on WAMU 88.5 on Sundays at 6pm.
