Stop by the Koshland Science Museum's booth (1139) for hands-on science activities exploring hydrogen powered fuel cells and how solar energy is converted to electricty. Join Koshland staff and volunteers for hands-on science activities on the at the DC Green Festival. The first 50 visitors to the Koshland Science Museum's booth will receive a pass for free admission to the museum.
Activities offered: The Science Behind the Hydrogen Fuel Cell: What is hydrogen and where does it come from? How can it power a car? Learn about the inner-workings of fuel cells with a model car.
Tranforming Solar Energy to Electricity: Renewable energy, unlike fossil fuels, is generated from natural resources that are replenished naturally. Examples of renewable energy include solar, wind, hydroelectric, hydroelectric, and geothermal, solar, wind and biofuels. In this experiment, we'll investigate how photovoltaic panels (commonly referred to as solar panels) turn light energy into electricity.
At the Washington DC Green Festival learn about what's working in local communities-across the District, Maryland and Virginia-for people, for business and for the environment. Enjoy more than 125 speakers and 350 green businesses, great how-to workshops, green films, a Fair Trade pavilion, yoga classes, organic beer, delicious organic cuisine and live music.
