In this interactive visitors have the opportunity to explore the
trends in atmospheric CO2 concentration and temperatures over the
past century, both through line graphs and a time-varying temperature
map of the world.
Observing Climate Change Over the Past Century
The red line on the graph shows globally averaged temperature
for each year; the blue line shows the level of atmospheric CO2
during the same period. A user can scroll the graph through the
years by rolling their mouse over it to the left or right. Click
to stop scrolling; click again to re-start scrolling.
The map is color keyed to show average temperatures for each year;
no temperature data are available for grey areas. "The changes observed over the past several decades are likely mostly due
to human activities, but we cannot rule out that some significant part of these
changes is also a reflection of natural variability." - National Academies,
