GW Safety and Security staff members make decisions about which resources to invest in during the Prepare Phase of Extreme Event: River City
In October 2017, Koshland staff facilitated Extreme Event for the George Washington University’s Division of Safety and Security. Safety and security at the George Washington University (GW) is the comprehensive effort to provide a safe and secure campus for all university students, faculty and staff. The division operates on 3 major campuses in DC and Virginia and includes the GW Police Department and Health & Emergency Management services. Darrell Darnell, Senior Associate Vice President for Safety and Security, experienced Extreme Event during Koshland’s facilitation for the GW Freshman Day of Service and thought the exercise would be great for his staff.

25 GW Safety and Security staff members played Extreme Event: River City and had a great conversation about how the lessons learned during the game apply to what they do on campus. Mr. Darnell encouraged participants to think about the different neighborhoods within the game as the different GW campuses and how relationships might be formed within their division to be better resilient to future disasters.
