Extreme Event on the Road: Mirzayan Science & Technology Policy Graduate Fellows

In March 2017, the Koshland Science Museum hosted the current class of the Christine Mirzayan Science & Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship Program. Now in its 19th year, the Mirzayan Fellowship provides early career individuals with the opportunity to spend 12 weeks at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in Washington, DC learning about science and technology policy and the role that scientists and engineers play in advising the nation. As a way to introduce the fellows to the Koshland Science Museum’s role in science outreach at the Academies, they visited the museum to play Extreme Event: Rock City. After the game, Koshland staff discussed with the fellows the success of Extreme Event and encouraged them to think about ways they might be able to use it in their own communities.
