Extreme Event on the Road: Resilient Virginia at the Arlington Home Show

Resilient Virginia staff poses with Arlington Residents after a great game of Extreme Event: Coastal City

In April 2017, Extreme Event was on the road again to the Arlington Home Show sponsored by Resilient Virginia. Resilient Virginia is a non-profit organization comprised of leaders from local government, the private sector, academia, and the Virginia Sustainable Building Network that formed in 2014 to accelerate resiliency planning in Virginia communities. In addition to learning about home repair, green products and technologies, and outdoor living improvements, this year Arlington, VA residents also got a taste of what it takes for a community to be more resilient by playing Extreme Event: Coastal City

Koshland staff facilitated Extreme Event: Coastal City and lead players through a post-game discussion. Players thought the game was a great way to teach the ideas of preparedness and resilience and some expressed an interest in hosting an Extreme Event game within their own community organizations.
