Koshland Science Museum Announces Winter Program Lineup

December 31, 2008WASHINGTON – Beginning in January, The Marian Koshland Science Museum is offering “The Dish,” an array of public programs that provides participants a sociable way to engage in current scientific topics. In addition, the museum will host a special educators forum in February. The schedule of events follows. Please note: events will take place at the Koshland Science Museum unless otherwise noted.

Koshland Science Museum Celebrates Global Entrepreneurship Week with Nov. 19 Event

October 30, 2008Washington, DC –The Marian Koshland Science Museum has joined hundreds of partners around the world to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week Nov. 17 – 23, designed to inspire innovation, creativity, and imagination among young people in more than 75 countries. As part of that effort, on Wednesday, Nov. 19, the Koshland will host an Innovation Tournament open to all would-be entrepreneurs and display results of the museum’s team in Stanford University’s Global Innovation Tournament, a worldwide competition.

Koshland Science Museum's Online Interactive Sheds New Light on World Trends

October 15, 2008Washington, DC –The Marian Koshland Science Museum has launched an online, interactive exhibit that reveals fascinating stories about the world by allowing people to view changes in energy use around the world. The display, “Lights at Night,” provides a navigable, astronaut’s-eye view of the Earth at night using satellite data that spans a decade.

Marian Koshland Science Museum Forms Partnership with Science Centre Singapore

May 15, 2008Washington, DC –In a new collaboration, the Marian Koshland Science Museum of the National Academy of Sciences is licensing several components of its global warming and infectious diseases exhibits to the Science Centre Singapore. The partnership marks an expansion of the Koshland Science Museum's efforts to bring its work to international audiences by teaming up with other museums and science centers around the world.

December 10, 2007Washington, DC –The Marian Koshland Science Museum of the National Academy of Sciences has lined up an exciting new slate of events to engage the public in some of today's most fascinating science. Programs beginning in January 2008 will include an illustrated tour of the fundamental concepts of science by award-winning writers Natalie Angier and Rick Weiss, an examination of the state of the world's coral reefs, and a discussion with the hosts and producer of Radio Lab, the popular National Public Radio show.

Briefing on a New Web Resource to Address Global Drinking Water Crisis

February 17, 2005 - Washington, DC - The Marian Koshland Science Museum of the National Academy of Sciences welcomed its 20,000th visitor, just 9 months after opening. J.R. Holloway, a shy but ambitious 4th grader and aspiring scientist, was surprised to learn that he was the museum’s 20,000th visitor Monday morning. He and his mother Linda Holloway were visiting DC from Grapevine, Texas. “He loves science” said Linda Holloway.
